Medical Massages
Swedish Massage
One of the most commonly offered massage techniques. It's sometimes called a classic massage. The technique aims to promote relaxation by releasing muscle tension. The Swedish massage is gentler than deep tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief. It is performed to energize the body and improve overall health. This type of massage involves actions like percussion, kneading, vibration, tapping and rolling. Massage oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction.
Clinical Massage Therapy
A general term often used interchangeably with other terms such as medical massage, sports massage, manual therapy, deep tissue massage and a myriad of other specific modalities. It's important to consider that there isn't one singular definition, categorization or classification system when it comes to clinical massage therapy and massage therapy as a whole. It is a movement-based manual therapy that helps restore range of motion, break up scar tissue, release muscle adhesions, increase blood flow and reduce chronic and acute pain.
Stretch Therapy
The overall goal of stretch therapy is to treat muscle tightness, joint imbalances, and tissue restrictions that cause movement distortions, aches and pains, and increased risk of injury. Over time, stretch therapy improves range of motion, leading to improved movement patterns and fewer injuries. Pain relief, energy boost, decreased stress, increased stamina, improved posture.
Myofascial Release
A safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Myofascial release is a type of massage, often used to treat myofascial pain syndrome. Myofascial pain syndrome is a chronic pain disorder caused by sensitivity and tightness in your myofascial tissues. These tissues surround and support the muscles throughout your body.
Orthopedic Massage
A type of injury rehabilitation that focuses on the muscles and soft tissues surrounding joints. The aim of orthopedic massage is to relieve pain while restoring balance to the tissues and create a fuller range of motion.
Orthopedic massage can benefit patients with many symptoms and conditions. It is shown to greatly help after orthopedic surgery, such as ACL, knee or hip replacement.
Soft tissue injuries like sprains, pulled muscles or torn ligaments are also greatly benefited by this massage. Other conditions that benefit are: Carpal-tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, Tendinitis, Sciatica.
Kinesio Taping Method
A therapeutic taping technique which alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting effect forms convolutions in the skin increasing interstitial space and allowing for decreased inflammation in affected areas.
Kinesio Taping is a technique designed to work with the body’s natural healing process while providing rehabilitative support and stability to muscles and joints. It can be used to decrease pain, reduce inflammation, and relax overused or tired muscles.
Shiatsu
Shiatsu is based on traditional Japanese massage therapy. Shiatsu works with the body's energy flow, known as Ki or Qi (pronounced chee). It uses acupressure to release tension and bring balance to the body. It can help to lift your mood and make you feel relaxed.
In the Japanese language, shiatsu means "finger pressure". Shiatsu techniques include massages with fingers, thumbs, feet and palms; acupressure, assisted stretching; and joint manipulation and mobilization.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Also known as manual lymphatic drainage, it relieves the swelling that happens when medical treatment or illness blocks your lymphatic system. When your lymphatic system is healthy and active, it uses the natural movements of smooth muscle tissue to eliminate your body’s waste. Lymphatic drainage massage involves gently manipulating specific areas of your body to help lymphatic fluid move to an area with working lymph vessels to aid the process.
Because a lymphatic massage improves circulation, any tissue swelling and inflammation that causes joint pain will be lessened. Lymphatic drainage massage can also help you lose weight. There are many times when we cannot exercise regularly so going through a lymphatic drainage massage becomes a good option. Light rhythmic movements stimulate the lymphatic system without pressing hard on the vessel. They make the lymphatic fluid move easily through the nodes and tissues, making sure the fluid doesn't get trapped anywhere
A Massage for Chronic Pain
Can help decrease pain, decrease tension and reduce stress. Many physiological effects occur during a massage for chronic pain, the most common being increased temperature, the removal of waste products and increased endorphins, serotonin and dopamine.
Massage therapy relaxes muscle tissue, which reduces painful contractions and spasms. Massage can also reduce nerve compression. To understand this, consider that when muscles are contracted, they sometimes compress the nerves around them.
Neuromuscular Therapy
A highly-specialized form of manual therapy that corrects pain and dysfunction by treating trigger points, muscle adhesions, and fascial (connective tissue) patterns.
Cupping
Cupping is an alternative therapy that uses suction cups to stimulate your skin and muscles. It can be done on your face or body. The suction promotes increased blood circulation, which may help relieve muscle tension, promote cell repair, and aid in other regeneration.Cupping encourages tissues to release toxins.
Deep Tissue Massage
One of the most commonly offered massage techniques. It's sometimes called a classic massage. The technique aims to promote relaxation by releasing muscle tension. The Swedish massage is gentler than deep tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief. It is performed to energize the body and improve overall health. This type of massage involves actions like percussion, kneading, vibration, tapping and rolling. Massage oil or lotion is used to protect the skin from friction.
