Beware of Flu Shots

Flu vaccine is one of the weakest, giving protection for 2-3 months against specific strains of flu. Those over 60 years of age tend to have weaker immune system, which have protection for up to 6 weeks, and only in 65-75% of people. Flu shots should be taken as late as possible, end of November – early December to cover the “flu season.” So why are drug stores pushing “early flu shots” in August to October? The benefit is long gone by the time it is really needed.
